While friends, family and fans of Oscar Pistorius, double amputee and Olympian, cheered at news of his release on bail, news of his grisly deed – the shooting of his girlfriend four times from outside the bathroom – has left the rest of the world reeling in shock. To see yet another inspirational hero fall was disappointing, but perhaps, it is about time the world stopped mistaking achievement for character.
